A travel warning is given by a number of countries and outbreak is expected to have impact on tourism.

Studies have shown that zika virus arrived in the country from French Polynesia in 2014 during FIFA World cup tournament, based on DNA analysis of virus.

In the district of camacari and city Salvador it was found that a disease with flu like symptoms which is followed by rashes and arthralgia was shown to cause by zika virus in 2017.
